Manage content (Add Content) is used to add records/update fields for those records in your project. This is to be used when creating the project, or if coding an RFI, adding new records to the project.
- When adding new spreadsheets, you will need to make sure that the new spreadsheet has all of the same fields as the past spreadsheet. You can upload a cumulative spreadsheet, or spreadsheet with only the new records. The subsequently uploaded spreadsheet will depend on the content. For example:
- Adding additional records with different fields: If uploading a clinical trials spreadsheet after a grants spreadsheet (different IDs), the different and new fields will be appended (added without issue) in your project for these new records.
- Adding additional records with same fields: If uploading another grants, or same data source, spreadsheet with new records, you will need to add the past fields uploaded so they exist with these new records in your project.
- Overwriting fields for same records: Any additional spreadsheet uploaded with the same records/IDs that exist already will overwrite fields existing previously for those records. Do this if you are intentionally updating what you previously uploaded i.e. you fixed a title and want to update it for a record. You need to ensure all other unchanged fields for that record exist in the new upload, however. See more in the article below:
- Manage Content: Add Content/Records
Upload Data is used to add external coding and additional data fields to existing records in your project. This is not to be used to add records to your project. IDs uploaded here need to match what you have added to your project using Manage Content (Add Content). You can use this to add a Coder or Topic field/tag to records for example.
